This Privacy Policy describes how Unseen Church LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information when you participate in The Martha Project, a three-day devotional assessment delivered via SMS and web by partner churches to their congregants.
This Privacy Policy applies to two groups:
Participants: Individuals who scan a partner church's QR code, opt in via SMS, and complete or partially complete the assessment.
Partner Churches: Religious organizations who purchase access to The Martha Project to deploy with their congregations. Partner Churches access participant responses through their own administrative dashboard.
This policy does not cover practices of partner churches themselves, who may have their own privacy policies governing their use of participant data.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not use your information for marketing or advertising. We do not sell your information. We do not share lists between partner churches.
With your partner church: Your assessment responses, name (if provided), email (if provided), phone number, and campus are shared with the partner church whose QR code you scanned. This is the core purpose of the assessment. Each partner church accesses only their own participants' data — never the data of other churches.
With service providers: We use third-party service providers to operate the platform. These providers process information solely on our behalf:
For legal reasons: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our company, our users, or the public.
Business transfers: If Unseen Church LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
By opting in via the QR-code-driven JOIN message, you consent to receive SMS messages from The Martha Project related to the campaign you joined. You will receive a maximum of 5 messages per 3-day campaign: one welcome message, up to two reminder messages, one scorecard delivery message, and one optional support response.
To stop receiving messages, reply STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT to any message. Standard message and data rates may apply.
For help, reply HELP to any message or email support@unseenchurch.com.
We retain participant information for the duration of an active campaign and for a reasonable period afterward to provide partner churches with their final reports. After delivery to the partner church, we retain participant phone numbers and assessment responses in our system for 24 months for ministry follow-up purposes, after which we delete or anonymize the data.
Opt-in records (phone number, timestamp, opt-in message body) are retained as long as legally required to demonstrate consent for SMS messaging compliance, even after a participant opts out.
If you opt out via STOP, your phone number is added to a do-not-message list maintained by Twilio. We do not delete this list, as doing so would risk re-messaging users who opted out.
You have the following rights regarding your information:
To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@unseenchurch.com from the email address associated with your account, or include your phone number for verification.
If you are a resident of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, or another U.S. state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law, you may have additional rights under those laws. We honor all applicable rights.
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with comprehensive data protection law, please note that The Martha Project is intended for use by churches in the United States. If you wish to exercise GDPR or similar rights, contact us at support@unseenchurch.com and we will respond as required by applicable law.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information. These include encryption of data in transit, restricted access to participant data, and routine security review of our infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, however. If we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you and applicable authorities as required by law.
The Martha Project is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Partner churches that intend to deploy the assessment to anyone under 18 are responsible for obtaining appropriate parental consent before doing so.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated to active participants via SMS or email where feasible.
